REI SATO

Rei Sato

• Born in 1984

• Graduated from Ochanomizu College of Fine Arts and Design

• Discovered by Takashi Murakami in the very first GEISAI event in 2002

• Draw or paints in acrylic and pen onto photographs.

• First solo exhibit at the Lehmann Maupin Gallery in New York.

Rei Sato takes photographs of street or nature scenes and then transfers them to canvas and paints in cartoonish kids and animals over and around the scenes.  In using the cartoonish kids and animals it makes the viewers feel that there is a child like innocence that can be found within our own world.
